Yes. The web app is fully functional on a free account — it's not a trial. The desktop app is free to download and explore in read-only mode. You can see your content rendered live with any Foundation. A paid plan unlocks editing.
No. You can publish a site from a free account. Publishing is a separate per-site cost starting at $14/mo. A paid account plan is only needed for desktop app editing, more cloud storage, translation credits, or additional collaboration seats.
No. They're for different workflows. The web app is for working in the browser with cloud content. The desktop app is for working with local files on your machine. Choose the one that fits, or use both — one account covers everything.
Every account includes one collaboration seat. To work with someone, one of you uses a seat to establish the relationship — then you can share anything with each other. Either side can provide the seat. For larger teams, paid plans include more seats, or you can add them for $4/mo each.
Yes. If contributors use the web app, they can stay on free accounts and each use their included collaboration seat. The only required cost is publishing the site itself. Desktop app contributors need a paid plan for editing.
Your content is always yours. If you cancel publishing, your site goes offline but your content stays in the web app or in your local files. If you downgrade your account, the desktop app switches to read-only — your files don't change.
Everything is managed in your account settings inside the app. Publishing options appear when you're ready to publish a specific site. The pricing page you're reading now is just an overview — the app guides you through decisions with full context.
